Partnering/Character Class
Levels 3-5

This class provides the unique opportunity for our advanced dancers to strengthen their technical skills and artistry while building expertise in two areas that are essential to their development as Ballet Artists: Partnering and Character.

Partnering: Partnering is the art of young men and women performing together in Pas de Deux.   The young ladies learn poise, strength, and fluidity while the young men learn to support, balance, and lift them.  Communication, etiquette, trust, proper technique and safety are emphasized as the dancers maintain a strong connection and complement one another, even while advancing to learning classical repertoire and choreography.

Character Dance: Character Dance is both an artform of its own, as well as a subdivision of classical training. This training enhances the development of coordination, musicality and an ever more expressive upper body, building strength, stamina, coordination, rhythm and generally improving ballet technique.  It is tremendously beneficial for developing dancers and complete artists with a deep understanding of history, geography, culture, tradition and spirituality, able to convey, with maximum expressiveness, the human experience across cultural boundaries.
